The Midway Garden Sprite with Baton sculpture is a reproduction of the original sculptures that were created to adorn the exterior walls of Midway Gardens in 1914. The gardens were a popular gathering place for entertainment, fine food, and live music on Chicago's lake front through the 1920s. The end of Midway Gardens came when Prohibition was declared, and the buildings closed and demolished in 1929.
