This striking doormat is patterned after the paneled wall mural created for the office of Edgar J. Kaufmann. Crafted entirely of humble plywood, the room was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and installed in Kaufmann’s Department Store in downtown Pittsburgh in 1937. The entire office – complete with its original paneling, furniture, and textiles – was later donated to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London by Edgar Kaufmann jr. in 1974.
