The Frank Lloyd Wright Imperial Peacock Throw is adapted from a rug Wright created for the Imperial Hotel in Toyko, Japan. The peacock theme was recurring, also to be found as a mural in "Peacock Alley" - the lavish main lobby where the affluent would socialize. The detail in this panel is similar to many geometric Oya (soft volcanic rock) carvings he designed throughout the hotel.
